MLB Sports Betting Preview
Past performance is not a guarantee of future results. Just wanted to get that out of the way since the Pirates have been so awful over the past....forever almost....and St. Louis is a perennial playoff contender.
Online sportsbooks list the St. Louis Cardinals as home favorites over the Pittsburgh Pirates, with a ML of -187 and an Over/Under Total of 7.5 runs.
The Cardinals' Chris Carpenter has won 10 straight games against the Pirates, earning an ERA of 1.85 in 13 starts against Pittsburgh. Kevin Correia will take the mound for the Pirates, coming off a victory in his last appearance against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Slugger Albert Pujols is batting .333 against Correia in 12 at bats but has struggled so far in 2011 to find his groove. The 10 year veteran out of the Dominican Republic is batting a meager .167 with 1 HR and 3 RBIs. Pujols says he hasn't found his comfort level at the plate yet.
"There's no panic, man," Pujols said. "I think the main thing people kind of take for granted is everybody expects me to go deep every day or get three hits. I'm out there doing everything I can even though I don't feel good at the plate." (from espn.com)
