Move along. Move along. Nothing new to see here. Just the same dominating performance by the underdog San Francisco Giants, who defeated the Texas Rangers in five games to win the 2010 MLB World Series Title.
Tim Lincecum allowed only three hits over eight innings, helping the Giants win their first title since 1954, four years before moving west to San Francisco. The two time Cy Young award winner struck out 10 Rangers on way to defeating Texas ace Cliff Lee for the second time in a week.
Lincecum, Wilson, Renteria, Huff, Torres, Posey, Cain, Bumgarner.......did what some of the greatest Giants and MLB players like Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and Juan Marichal could not.
Edgar Renteria, the World Series veteran who once led the Marlins to an extra innings victory over the Cleveland Indians in 1997, came through with the goods once again when it mattered most.
A scoreless game to begin the 7th inning, Cody Ross and Juan Uribe each singled. After a surprise bunt by HR leader Aubrey Huff to move up the base runners, Pat Burrell went down as a strikeout victim. That would be the last good news for Cliff Lee.
Edgar Renteria sent a Cliff Lee pitch sailing over the left, center-field wall and just like that the Giants were up 3-0.
Texas responded as best they could in the bottom of the 7th when Cruz launched a solo home run that carried 397 feet. But there was no more offense to be found from the regular season, offensive kingpins.
Texas was outscored 29-12 and bat a miserly .190 during the series.
Like they say, good pitching beats good hitting every time.
Congratulations San Francisco Giants: 2010 MLB World Series Champions!
